Season Nears Its End: Mixed Results Across All Leagues

18/10/2024

The end of the season is slowly approaching. Two weeks ago, all of our league teams played their matches as part of rounds 17 and 18. Results varied across competitions, and current standings differ greatly among teams.

The Third League squad is struggling the most, currently sitting in a relegation spot. The best results came from the First League team, which added two more victories to its record and remains in third place in the regular season standings. The top four teams will advance to the playoffs, where they will battle for promotion to the highest domestic league.

In round 17, the team of Jonáš Rak, Samuel Palušek, Vít Kadlec, and Jindřich Morávek handled their opponents from Sokol Mnichovo Hradiště comfortably on home soil, winning 10–1. The only loss came from Jonáš Rak, but the match was otherwise firmly under control.

A day later, a slightly changed lineup had a tough battle against Elizza Prague. The team of Vít Kadlec, Samuel Palušek, Jindřich Morávek, and Jan Krupník still managed to capitalize on their home advantage and confirmed their top-tier status in the league with a 10–7 win. The key to victory was the 100% performance by Vít Kadlec, three points from Jindra Morávek, and solid support from Samuel Palušek.

Also in action on Varenská Street was the Second League team, which hosted KST Zlín and, the following day, SKST Plus Hodonín. The quartet of Jonáš Rak, Samuel Palušek, Jakub Mesaroš, and Jan Lisztwan managed to beat KST Zlín 10–6, largely thanks to a strong performance from Slovak national player Samuel Palušek.

However, they couldn't maintain the momentum on Sunday. With Jaroslav Jůza replacing Palušek, the team lacked some crucial points. The home side had to bow to a stronger Hodonín team, losing 6–10. After 18 rounds, they sit in 10th place—currently a relegation playoff position.

The Third League team had the toughest weekend, losing both of their away matches. In round 17, the squad of Jaroslav Jůza, František Chaloupka, Oliver Vincenec, and Filip Válek fell short against Zlín "B", losing 7–10.

Unfortunately, the team couldn't bounce back in the following round either. Against TJ Sokol Šarovy, they managed to win only four singles matches, which was not enough to compete for victory. Two losses pushed them to 10th place in the standings—a relegation spot. They will fight to remain in the league this coming weekend when they host Nový Jičín and Valašské Meziříčí at home.
