All League Teams Returned to Action in the New Season

The year 2024 is in full swing, and so are all Czech competitions. Every league team has already played its first match of the year, including the Women's Extraliga, which was the only one to hold a traditional "doubleheader." Unfortunately, the results were not particularly positive.

Our women's team opened the year in Havířov. They had to play without Nikita PETROVOVA, and Havířov's Lucie MASOPUSTOVA stepped in. The tense match was decided in the doubles, where the Ostrava duo of Helena SOMMEROVA and Tamara TOMANOVA surprisingly triumphed. On Sunday, the same lineup faced Vlašim at home, where the result was more favorable. Tamara and Helena won all three of their singles matches and led the team to a 6–2 victory.

The First League team also played in Havířov. The squad of Samuel PALUSEK, Jindřich MORAVEK, Vít KADLEC, and Jonáš RAK couldn't pull off a win and returned home with a 10–7 defeat. The Achilles' heel of our team was the flawless performance of Havířov's reinforcement Leo ELLSWORTH, who won all his singles matches. This marked the second consecutive loss for our "C" team, resulting in a drop to second place in the league standings.

Second League action also took place in Havířov. Just like the Extraliga and First League teams, our "D" team couldn't find a way to win. The team—Jonáš RAK, Samuel PALUSEK, Jan LISZTWAN, and Jaroslav JUZA—struggled against the home side. Only the Slovak player Samuel PALUSEK managed to win all three of his singles matches and added a point in doubles alongside Jonáš RAK. After a 10–4 defeat, our team now sits in 9th place in the table.

To conclude our league weekend, things didn't go well at home either. The Third League team hosted Brušperk but failed to reach the ten-point mark needed for victory. The lineup of Filip VALEK, Jan KRUPNIK, Jan LISZTWAN, František CHALOUPKA, and substitute Oliver VINCENEC only managed to collect seven points—clearly not enough to win. The Ostrava "E" team currently holds 8th place in the standings.

All the mentioned teams will have another opportunity to gain points in two weeks, when the next match weekend is scheduled. How our players will perform remains to be seen.
